KICK-OFF IN ZAGREB FOR THE SIXTH EDITION OF THE UEFA FOOTBALL LAW PROGRAMME

The Sixth Edition of the exclusive UEFA Football Law Programme (FLP) has begun in Zagreb. This key event is essential for legal professionals operating in the world of football. Scheduled from September 22 to 26, 2025, the event brings together specialists from across Europe to delve into the legal challenges and regulatory mechanisms that govern modern football.

The UEFA Football Law Programme is a high-level, one-year training course, structured into four intensive sessions in various European cities (Zagreb is the first of this edition). The goal is to provide lawyers from Federations, clubs, and leagues, as well as specialized attorneys, with a practical and in-depth understanding of football’s complex regulatory framework.

Among the central topics addressed during the sessions are crucial subjects such as:

  • Regulation and Governance: The legal structure of UEFA and FIFA, and the regulations that govern competitions and national associations.
  • Contracts and Transfers: The rules on international player transfers (FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players – RSTP) and sports contract law.
  • Financial Fair Play (FFP): The evolution of the regulation and its impact on the economic sustainability of clubs.
  • Sports Justice and CAS: Dispute resolution mechanisms and the central role of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS/TAS) in Lausanne.
  • Integrity of the Game: The fight against match-fixing (match manipulation), doping, and other threats to integrity.

Jacopo Tognon, founder of JT Lex, has been a member of the Scientific Committee since the first edition in 2015 and is the Director of the Italian Session, which will be held in Venice for the current edition in April 2026.
